i have to write this before i forget how AMAZING laneway this year was (which will probably be never but one has to be kiasu).  highlights!

  • epic queue: GO EARLIER NEXT YEAR
  • girls’ flower set and opening with a tribute to whitney houston (with the crowd singing along) and frontman even tearing up a little
  • austra’s strange backup singers/dancers and the freakishly addictive “don’t wanna lose you”
  • two back tattoos spotted: joy division’s unknown pleasures and an intricately-detailed soldier
  • POBPAH BEING SO AWESOME LIVE I LOVE THEM FOREVER AND PEGGY IS SO PRETTY I WANTED TO COLLAPSE FROM ADRENALINE RUSH
  • feist being surprisingly delightful!  ”mountain people” being hilariously uncoordinated and varied in dance moves and levels of enthusiasm
  • the horrors’ act lasting ten years
  • closing act M83 SHOWING EVERYONE HOW IT’S DONE.  epic lights, mindblowing sounds, compelling showmanship (without crossing line into douchebaggery: SO RARE THESE DAYS).  the crowd was three inches off the floor from the transcendental experience.
  • annoying drunk bitch dancing unnecessarily in front of me without a heck to the world, flinging hair at my face, grinding sloppily against my knee and at some point, inserting her fingers into my mouth
